Jared Bernhardt and the Terps face #5 Villanova before heading West for the Shootout
The #2 ranked Maryland Terps head to Philadelphia to face the #5 Wilcats before they board a plane on Tuesday bound for Southern California and the Pacific Coast Shootout.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (courtesy umterps.com) -- The No. 2 Maryland men's lacrosse team is set to make its first trip to Villanova since 2015 as it takes on the No. 5 Wildcats Saturday at 1:00 pm. The Terps are 9-1 all-time against Villanova in a series that dates back to 1994. Maryland has scored at least 10 goals in all 10 meetings.

BY THE NUMBERS

2 - Saturday's matchup pits two of the cleanest teams in the country against each other in terms of ball control. The Terps currently lead the country with just 9.5 turnovers per game, while the Wildcats are fourth nationally with 10.4. Maryland is averaging only 8.0 turnovers over its last three games.

2 - The return to Philadelphia is a homecoming of sorts for a pair of Maryland starting close defenders: senior Bryce Young and junior Curtis Corley. The pair grew up in South Jersey and were opponents in high school.

3 - Senior midfielder Connor Kelly needs just three more goals to join the legendary Frank Urso (1973-76) as the only midfielders in Maryland history to score 100 career goals. Urso finished with 127 in his career. Kelly would be the 14th Terrapin overall to reach the 100-goal milestone.

4 - Maryland's game against Villanova begins a four-game road stretch for the Terps before returning to College Park on April 15. Included in the road swing is a trip to California for spring break, as the Terps are scheduled to face North Carolina in the Pacific Coast Shootout.

4 - The Terrapins have become accustomed to playing ahead this season, trailing for just 4:29 of 360 minutes through six games. Vermont (8:27) and Georgetown (9:43) are the only other programs nationally to have trailed less than 10 minutes. Maryland is currently outscoring opponents 25-9 in the first quarter.

5 - Senior Connor Kelly currently ranks fifth in the country with 19 assists after another three-assist day against Albany. It's an impressive feat through six games for Kelly, who had just 11 as a First Team All-American in 2017. In fact, Kelly had just 27 assists in his career (58 games) prior to 2018.

10 - Senior Connor Kelly pieced together one of the greatest performances in Maryland history in the win against Notre Dame on March 3, totaling 10 points on three goals and seven assists. It was the first time since 1979 that both the points and assists totals were reached by a Terrapin (Bob Boneillo), and both are Big Ten single-game records.

67 - Freshman Logan Wisnauskas scored his Big Ten-best fourth man-up goal of the season last weekend against Albany. Wisnauskas leads a potent Maryland extra man unit that leads the nation with a 67-percent conversion rate. Jared Bernhardt and Connor Kelly are second on the team with three man-up goals each.
